Hello and Happy February to you!

lauren-corkboard

This month I have lots of things in store for you, but  I want to apologize first for not getting to as much content in January as I had promised. Both Brian and I lost grandparents last month which was sad to process and kept me away from the computer. Still, we were able to celebrate the long and happy lives of two magnificent women. We are thankful for that and eager to move forward with their strength and dignity in the forefront of our minds. How about we use those words from scripture as our verse for February.

A few announcements:

The Style Wheel Big Deal this month is…

A velvet blazer!

Not since March of 2015 (almost 2 years ago!!!! gah!!) have I put the stylelight on a blazer. With pops of velvet showing up in stores everwhere, I’m a little giddy about adding velvet to my spring repertoire. I chose a vibrant green version to top off my late winter ensembles, and may I suggest you too choose a bright color? I’ve seen all varieties while surfing the web: purple, hot pink, royal blue; these are just the ticket to cheering our gray days while providing some warmth against the northern wind.

Besides velvet blazers, can I tell you what else is a good idea this month? Establishing your space at home. I know that may sound a bit vague, but creating your own personal “man cave”—on Pinterest they are referred to as “a girl’s shed”—brings a fun, functional space to your home which invites creativity and sanity alike. My girl’s shed takes the shape of a small room off our master bedroom which the listing agent referred to as “the master sitting room.” As our home had no official office (and we could easily go sit somewhere else), we quickly went to work ordering built in shelving and a computer station which would transform this into my home office. Stay tuned for more pictures and ideas.

DSF_5778 I also am excited to share with you some slight changes coming to The Art of Living Beautifully in the coming months…Talks are still in the works with my web designer and a few others, but I’m excited for TAOLB’s new and exciting direction! In the mean time, I need to ask you a small favor. If you are a resident of McKinney, Texas or the surrounding area would you mind commenting below or sending an email stating some topics YOU would like to see on The Art of Living Beautifully. I want to make sure the TAOLB content is engaging to my local peeps for reasons I will express later. My email is Lauren@theartoflivingbeautifully.net
