Happy March everybody! If you aren’t local to North Texas I’ll tell you we’ve had our ‘Winter Blast’ for the year. We get about an inch of snow, some sleet and some freezing rain, and our state pretty much shuts down because no one knows how to drive in it…That being said, the Palmers left the house every single day because of a bad case of cabin fever. (me especially)
I don’t have as many announcements this month as I did last, but there are some exciting things on the schedule. First of all, I’m beyond excited about my new cookbook, The Real Girl’s Kitchen by Haylie Duff. Bright, bold photography coupled with simple, epicurean recipes and heartfelt ‘blurbs’ about the soul of each recipe make this book a necessity on every cook’s kitchen counter. And nightstand. And on their desk. I find myself picking up The Real Girl’s Kitchen several times a day just to see if there is anything I’ve missed and re-reading my new favorites.
She has an entire chapter on eggs!!..which is the perfect segway into my next bit of news:
As we get excited about celebrating the upcoming Easter Egg season, I have decided to devote my La Cucina posts completely to eggs during the month of March. Two of the recipes I’m posting are from my new favorite cookbook, and the third is for Pasta Carbonara. This is the very first dish I learned to make while living in Italy in 2003. It is by far my most requested dish as well as the most complemented. Stay tuned for the recipe and #GetExcited!!
We’ll be talking about making compost in Sadie’s Potting Shed as we get ready for Spring planting. I’ve had to change my Potager Garden plans because of a major lack of sunlight on that side of my house. 🙁 I can still focus on prepping the soil while rethinking location.
The Style Wheel Big Deal this month is: a White Blazer!!! The blazer in general is an important and versatile wardrobe staple. I styled two closets last month, and told both of my clients ‘Enough of the cardigans! It’s time to replace them with fun blazers.’ (You know who you are Rachel. And Mary Martha.) A white blazer in particular is such a chic addition to your Spring wardrobe. I bought this one, which will be featured on my blog all month.
Here are a couple of other options: Mural slouchy boyfriend blazer, Trouve boyfriend blazer, 1.State collarless peplum blazer. There are tons of options, so no excuses. Get one!! And contact me if you need help sorting through all your old cardigans!
The lovely Amanda Embry of Manhattan to Mulholland and I have teamed up for a little ‘Blog to Blog’ convo each month, where we will remake one of eachother’s Looks from the previous month. This month she will be showing the sequin skirt who’s boss, while I give you my interpretation of the Jogger trend. If you haven’t subscribed to Amanda’s blog, click this link and sign up today! She is a gifted Stylist who lives, sleeps and breaths fashion.
And just because I know you will LOVE this Jogger trend, go ahead and grab a pair of these!
I haven’t selected a verse for March, but instead a mantra: Give the Glory to God! During Lent and the Easter season, lets remember from where our blessings come. Everything we are, everything we have is from the Lord. Whether receiving a complement or telling someone the news of a special blessing, I want to remember to give praise where its due. I hope you will as well!
Have a wonderful March everyone! Don’t forget to find me on:
