Staging a home is a huge and quite necessary trend in the real estate market today. It is a great tool to help sell a home quickly, and for the highest profit possible. Many of our clients are so pleased with the way their home looks after staging that they don’t want to leave! Have you ever prepared your home to move and then regretted that you had not kept it in showing condition while you lived there? At Team Burns, we suggest you stage your home for life!

When we meet with clients, planning is the most important part and we immediately begin the process to determine what needs to be done for optimal staging. Start with your main living areas and take a look at your home with the eyes of a potential buyer. Determine if you will need a contractor to take care of any minor repairs or cosmetic issues and the cost that could entail. Make a list of things that you could do immediately to make your home more welcome for friends and family. Kitchens and bathrooms are critical areas that might make or break a buyer’s decision, so make sure you include them on your list! Team Burns provides a “Home Staging Checklist” to help make sure that details are not forgotten.

After you have made repairs to your home, it’s time to declutter!  Take a different room each weekend until you have made it through all your major living areas. You can transform your property with some simple cleaning. Now for the fun part–invest in a few accessories to make your main areas unique. Don’t forget to add extra touches that appeal to the senses, such as candles and diverse textures. When your home is show-ready inside, step out to your street and think of a few things to maximize your curb appeal!

Home staging is a crucial part of the selling process, but why wait until its time to sell to fully enjoy your biggest investment? Utilize your home to add value to time spent with the most important people in your life!
