You may or may not believe this, but I don’t really read many blogs. (gasp) Actually, before I started The Art of Living Beautifully I probably read NONE until I came across a book written by Emily Schuman called Cupcakes and Cashmere several years ago. Emily is a blogger, and the book was a compilation of many of her favorite blog posts. Her interests are very similar to mine: lots to do with cooking, fashion, parties etc…In fact, it wasn’t much later that the idea of TAOLB came to mind, and I did a lot of research on Emily and Cupcakes and Cashmere when I began prepping for this TAOLB journey.
All that being said, this coat is from Emily’s new fashion line: appropriately named Cupcakes and Cashmere. The first day C&C launched online at Nordstrom I clicked from page to page–slightly drooling–at all of the interesting yet wearable pieces. This coat, with it’s asymmetrical zipper and classic preppy plaid, called my name loud and clear the moment I spied it.
What is more fun to wear than a cheeky graphic print T? Honestly, what is? Love Joy and Lattés written in sparkly gold…yes please!
NOTE: I’m not actually one of those girls who is all gung ho Starbucks…and I hope this doesn’t disturb you, but I think Pumpkin Spice Lattés are kind of disgusting. Artificial pumpkin flavor with a pound of sugar. I just can’t catch that train.
I do love regular lattés so this T was right up my ally. Black, leather-embellished leggings and a killer statement shoe are fun, unexpected items to pair with a t-shirt. Please don’t feel that T = sloppy. Graphic Ts can actually provide a relaxed and humorous edge to leather pants or even a sequined skirt.
Friends, I know I talk about Stella and Dot all the time, but I have to say if you are a fashion lover AT ALL, the Natalie necklace should most definitely be in your jewelry box. The touch of leather is cool and modern. The mixed metal allows for easy accessorizing–complement with gold or silver? Its your choice!

Leggings–sold out at Sam’s but try these by GUESS
Any of the items above would make a wonderful gift this holiday season, but I hope you will also check out my Christmas Gift Guide Post for tons more ideas!
