To those of you who are new to The Art of Living Beautifully, allow me to explain to you the method to my madness. When posting articles I write about fashion, I classify them under a section on the left sidebar called Style Wheel. You can find the Style Wheel story here. Each month I bring to you a Style Wheel Big Deal–this is a piece of clothing I feel is necessary for every closet, and I will show you different ways to style it throughout the month; usually three ways: casual, work and evening.
In the August Newsletter, I told you this month’s Style Wheel Big Deal is a romper. Now, I know the romper isn’t necessarily a “new” phenomenon, and many of you are thinking “A romper? Like a onesie? But for an adult?” I get it. I know a romper isn’t on the cutting edge of fashion, however, it is a trend right now as it has been for several seasons and I believe they really are an excellent way to begin transitioning into Fall dressing…which many of us are already chomping at the bit to do.
The key to working into a Fall wardrobe is color. Purchasing lightweight fabrics in the Fall color palette, and then delicately styling them with accessories that subtly hint at pumpkins and tall boots can feel daunting to some. Again, I get it.
The romper I’m wearing here is old. (Sorry) But below I have linked some darling options for you. A denim romper is honestly the PERFECT choice when selecting one to take you into Fall. Denim is always appropriate–even in Summer months–and it gives such an innocent nod to school days when a new pair of jeans was always on the list for back-to-school shopping.
Since I’m wearing all black, a neutral straw belt is an excellent way to balance the darkness with Summer. In September, switch to a leather belt for a step closer to cooler weather.
The Brynn lariat is a simple no-fuss addition which grabs multiple complements each time it dangles from my neck. It’s adjustable and versatile and truly very easy to wear. Black flat sandals finish the look to make this the perfect casual ensemble for running errands while not looking scary. Knot a scarf around the handles of your Hudson tote, and you are good to go for a day of traveling. Wherever you are headed, head there in this!
