Can you guess why I am soooo excited about today’s post?
Yes. It’s because I LOVE fashion.
Yes. It’s because Corrie Barto shot these photos.
Yes. It’s because we shot this look (and the upcoming ones) for Allen Image Magazine.
But its mainly because it is actually time to dress for fall y’all!
Last spring when the fall collections launched at fashion week, I spied two trends stomping down runways that had me particularly intrigued: mustard yellow and large bold flowers. Until recently I viewed mustard as one of the most hideous colors. Ever. Not great with my fair skin. Not exactly bright and joyful. Plus, the word mustard doesn’t sound lovely rolling off the tongue, as if the taste describes the color.
But then I saw tiny bits of embellished bead-work on the gowns at Valentino.
Mustard suits from Chanel and Hillier Bartley.
A Miu Miu jaquard maxi skirt with a matching whole grain cardigan.
Bold flowers bloomed around this runway condiment and suddenly the irony of florals for fall and golden jewel tones made sense.
To say the pairing of these golden blossoms with a buffalo check midi skirt is eye catching is an understatement. It’s an unexpected pairing that is appropriate for the office or church or a lunch meeting that calls for a memorable discussion. A few aspects I particularly love? This golden color paired with black and white; the monochromatic placement of the Hazel Necklace with the blouse; the risk of wearing a midi-length skirt. Each of these elements complement the others so well creating a truly spectacular look.
